Leadership that you can depend on.
“I have dedicated my life to my community, protecting victims and keeping the public safe, I look forward to building on this commitment as Sacramento County’s Sheriff.”
Jim Cooper for Sheriff 2022
As a 30-year law enforcement veteran, 15-year Elk Grove Councilmember, and 8-year Legislator, I have dedicated my entire adult life to protecting and serving Sacramento County. At the age of 20, I proudly joined the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department, earning the Bronze Star for Bravery and attaining the rank of Captain.
During my time as a Captain, I spent nearly a decade as an undercover narcotics officer and gang detective fighting to keep our streets safe. I commanded nine divisions including the Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Taskforce, combatting human trafficking and child sexual exploitation
More than ever, the people of Sacramento County need a Sheriff they can trust. We need a Sheriff with the leadership, experience, and relationships needed to tackle rising violent crime, rampant retail theft, and homelessness.
In the Legislature, I continually advocated for victims’ rights, authoring more than 30 public safety bills; including legislation aimed towards cracking down on sexually violent predators, felony murderers, ghost guns, and school gun violence.
As a lifelong Democrat, I’m proud to be endorsed by Crime Victims United, California Professional Firefighters, and law enforcement groups representing 50,000 peace officers. I would be honored to have your vote.
